Pujara, Sharma guide India A to safety on Day 2Royal Challengers Bangalore batsman and India A captain Cheteshwar Pujara and Rohit Sharma led India A’s fightback against the West Indies A side on the second day of first unofficial Test in Barbados.

India A had bowled out West Indies A for 252 at Stumps on Day 1 of the Test but were reduced to 21/3 early on Day 2. Openers Abhinav Mukund (0) and Shikhar Dhawan (9) were dismissed cheaply, so was the in-form no. 3 batsman Ajinkya Rahane (0).

Pujara and Sharma then fought back for India A, adding 93 for the fourth wicket. Pujara was solid and gave the bowlers no opening as he brought up his half century. He anchored well giving Sharma the license to go for his shots.

Cheteshwar Pujara made 50 (97b, 4x7) before he was done in by sharp bounce and caught behind off Jonathan Carter (5/63). Sharma went on to hit 94(159b, 4x10, 6x3) and he received support from Manoj Tiwary who made 40 (46b, 4x3, 6x2) to take India A’s score past 200.

Wriddhiman Saha’s 56 (92b, 4x6) helped the India A total reach 277 as the visitors grabbed a crucial 25 run first innings lead. In reply, West Indies were 3/0 after 6 overs in their second innings at Stumps.
